ANNECY, FRANCE — Salomon, the outdoor sports brand that has been creating ski equipment in the French Alps since 1947, today announced the implementation of a new, more sustainable design ambition across its entire winter sports category. This more responsible approach to creating winter sports equipment—including hardgoods such as skis, ski boots, goggles and helmets—is another step toward realizing the overall commitments the company has made to lessen its environmental impact. Most notably, by 2030, Salomon has pledged to reduce its overall carbon emissions by 30 percent and committed to creating 100 percent of its products with circular economy principles.

Salomon athlete steps down from the mountains in Phantasm 24 Project this November!

Kilian Jornet, the most decorated trail runner in the history of the sport and the man who summited Mt Everest twice in one week has set his sights on a new athletic challenge. This month, wearing the new Salomon S/LAB Phantasm road racing shoes, he will step on the 400-meter (¼ mile) track in Måndalen, Norway and run for 24 consecutive hours. For Jornet, who has won trail running races all over the planet, the Phantasm 24 running challenge will be a step outside of the ordinary, which is always attractive to him.

The Giant Slalom race on the Rettenbach Glacier in Sölden, Austria traditionally marks the start of the alpine World Cup season. This year, Italian Marta Bassino was the undisputed star of the event – dominating both runs, she claimed her 2nd World Cup victory and set expectations really high for the rest of the season. The only skier to come even close Marta’s time was her teammate Federica Brignone, last year’s Overall winner, while the rest of the field finished more than a second behind.
