Laetitia Roux, satisfied with her first experience at the X-Terra Triathlon

Laetitia Roux finished her first participation in an X-Terra triathlon in the 13rd position. She is satisfied for the experience, which has allowed her to practice different sports in a different environment than she is used to. The X-Terra, is a mountain triathlon race with 1,5 kilometres open-ocean swim, 36 kilometres mountain bike and 10 kilometres of trail run.

« I really enjoyed myself in this first experience. As I did not have a precise goal, I tried to do my best. I knew it would be hard on the swimming part, and that I was going to loose some precious time there, at least 10 minutes. For me the challenge was there! That is what I was looking for: some real challenges in a very different sport. I will consider repeating the experience next year for sure, so that I can have the time to improve my swimming!», said Laetitia.

Laetitia Roux is back from the Czech Republic, where this weekend she participated in the X-Terra, a race of the Outdoor Triathlon World Cup composed by 1,5 kilometres open-ocean swim, 36 kilometres mountain bike and 10 kilometres of trail run.

Laetitia was there with the goal of training for the winter season, as she is convinced that outdoors triathlons have similarities with the sports she takes part in, and it is also a good way to train switching from one sport to another, similar to what happens in ski mountaineering.

Her first experience in the X-Terra was a big success for Laetitia, even though she recognizes she had some troubles with the swimming part: “It is true that I have to improve my swimming, as this left me a bit out of the race. However, I am very satisfied that I was the last girl who came out of the water and with the mountain bike and trail run I got to finish 13th. The race was hard, and it remind me a bit to the Skyrunning World Cup, in the Giir di Mont race, where you suffer to finish the race, with the legs hurting all the way. However, the pain is worth it and I think it’s a good result, even though it was not the most important part”.

Overall it was a great experience. I got to meet new people in a new environment, and this is always good for me. Also, it helped me keep the competitive spirit but in a very nice ambiance, so it was a really great experience, I hope I will be able to do it again in the future.

With almost no time to rest, Laetitia will start training for the Haute Route, a cycling race that will lead her to cross the Pyrenees. Before, though, she will be in the Matterhorn Ultras next August 24th, as she is one of the ambassadors of the event.
