A Water Marathon Celebration!

The Yangtze Delta is one of the most fertile regions in China, with a thriving ecosystem, where cotton and tea grow abundantly. The great delta region covers Shanghai and parts of two neighbouring provinces; with about one-tenth of the population in China, yet accounting for one-fifth of the country’s GDP. It is considered one of the most affluent regions in East Asia.

On November 7th, over 200 athletes participated in the Water Marathon, an event organized by Shanghai Yacht Club. On that golden day along the Dingshan lake, which is located in the centre of the delta, was adorned by racing canoes, kayaks, SUP’s and rowing boats; all being part of the grand marathon carnival that covers over 18 kilometres of waterways.

This event marks the beginning of yet another booming development in the Yangtze Delta, part of an ongoing meticulous plan to boost the sports tourism industry.
