UTMB® World Series
mozart 100 by UTMB was one of the first events to become part of the UTMB World Series created in 2022, which combines the world's best trail running events in extraordinary locations. In 2023, the series consisted of 36 events in 22 countries worldwide, where participants had the opportunity to qualify for the UTMB® World Series Finals, the UTMB® Mont-Blanc in Chamonix, France. The qualification takes place via so-called "Running Stones", which the runners receive if they participate successfully and which they can use for the lottery of the race entries for the UTMB World Series Finals.
Josef Mayerhofer, race director of mozart 100 by UTMB explains further: “There are four categories with 20K, 50K, 100K and 100M in which participants can collect running stones and you need at least one running stone to enter the lottery for the UTMB World Series Finals at the respective distance, the UTMB, CCC and OCC race of the UTMB Mont-Blanc. If you successfully participate in mozart 100 by UTMB, you automatically receive a UTMB index that provides information about the level of performance – the higher the index, the higher the runner is rated.”
