The 15th edition takes place this weekend and once again puts Madeira in the spotlight of trail running on a global scale

Here comes the 15th edition of the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail. Over the next few days, the Madeira island will be the stage for all things trail running, with the particularity of reaching a record number of entries: 3481 in total. 2300 are foreign athletes. 58 nationalities will be represented. France, with 1192 athletes, is the most represented country, followed by Portugal (1003). The MIUT is one of the founding events of the World Trail Majors, the new world trail running circuit.

Let’s go back to the 7th edition of UTMF which was held last week-end! The presentation of the elites, the trail and the weather forecast happen Thursday at 5pm while we could still see Mount Fuji. But it wasn’t the case very long. In the men's race, Xavier Thevenard was back 3 years after his participation to a smaller edition of the UTMF which was reduced and then canceled due to a bad weather. He came for revenge!

Ε λοιπόν, σε εκείνο το εξωτικό νησί μεταφέρεται το Ultra Trail World Tour, στη Μαδέιρα όπου μάλιστα δύο Έλληνες δρομείς, η Δέσποινα Γαβριηλίδου και ο Πέτρος Γιάγκου, θα βάλουν τα δυνατά τους στον μεγάλο αγώνα της διοργάνωσης, Madeira Island Ultra Trail των 115 χιλιομέτρων και +7200μ υψομετρικής!

The subscriptions for MIUT 2019 exceeded all expectations, with 2600 subscriptions and athletes from 52 countries, having sold out for every trial in only 17 hours’ time. The subscriptions for MIUT 2019 exceeded all expectations from the organization, as well as every records from previous years.
