On Saturday, June 26th, 2021 the time had come: The Kaiserkrone Trail took place in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser450 runners from all over the world took part and ran for the fastest time on the Wilder Kaiser. The runners had the choice between four different distances: The Skyrace (24.7 kilometers / 2730 meters in altitude), the Marathon Trail (56 kilometers / 3810 meters in altitude), the Speed Trail (20.4 kilometers / 1430 meters in altitude) and the Easy Trail (14 kilometers / 490 meters in altitude). In the best conditions, a total of 450 runners from 17 differnent countries took part.

And while for many ambitious hobby runners the motto "being there is everything" applied, the top athletes fought for the best time in their respective discipline. Especially at the Skyrace, the quality of the international field was amazing. Even more as the Austrian Skyrunning Championships were included. The skyrace was also part of the Skyrunner Austria Series and the Skyrunner World Series 2021.

Voices for the race
The Kaiserkrone Trail 2021 was a complete success not only for the winners, also for the organisation. Organizer Thomas Bosnjak sums it up with satisfaction: "The Wilder Kaiser was a real challenge to all runners, even more for the Skyrace participants. Well visible by some knees with abrasions - but above all, the grinning faces in the finish confirmed the hardness but also the attractiveness of the Skyrace route. I was very pleased that so many participants decided to take the wild ride over and around the Wilder Kaiser, thank you for coming and say a big thank you to the 100 helpers, landowners and landlords, hunters and everyone else who made the event possible. We look forward to seeing you again on June 24th and 25th, 2022 in Scheffau. "

Scheffau's tourism manager, Marcus Sappl, is also enthusiastic about the event achievements: "I myself come from climbing and mountaineering - and would not have thought these fast times that were run on my 'house peaks' were possible. I am really happy that we are hosting such a grandiose running event in Scheffau and I congratulate all participants on their personal success on the Wilder Kaiser. "

Thanks to the supporters
And because this outcome would never be possible without the enormous organizational work in the background, the organizers would especially like to thank the numerous helpers. Beginning from the cateringrom the culinary provision of the runners to route markings, refreshment stations, safety tasks and much more, there was support from the region. These include the Landjugend Scheffau, the Söllandl running club, the Scheffau mountain rescue service, the fire brigade, the Red Cross and numerous other committed helpers from Scheffau and the surrounding area. And so that you can get a rough impression of the overall organizational performance - a few figures to close.
